Private label apparel for Bengaluru brands

We are a private label clothing supplier for Bengaluru brands that sell online first: loungewear, activewear-led basics and everyday apparel made under your label through partner units. Samples are raised in Delhi, and every cost arrives as its own line for your model.

In short

  • Bengaluru D2C brands can have clothing made under their own label through partner units, with samples raised in Delhi and approvals given from Bengaluru.
  • A funded Bengaluru brand should model private label cost with sampling, label minimums, packing, freight and GST as separate lines, not one blended number.
  • Performance claims on activewear, such as moisture-wicking or quick-dry, need a test on the bulk fabric before they appear on a hangtag or listing.
  • Return reasons by size should brief a reorder: one grading change at a time, sampled, and checked against the first lot’s counter sample.
  • Bengaluru’s mild climate keeps lightweight ranges selling most of the year, so a private label core can be reordered steadily rather than by season.

As a private label clothing supplier for Bengaluru brands, we develop garments under your label in Delhi and have them made by partner units that already work in your construction. You approve from Bengaluru, and each cost reaches your model as its own line.

Bengaluru’s consumer brands are often funded, measured and online first, and their apparel lines are judged on contribution margin rather than on how a sample feels. That changes what a supplier owes them: costs broken down, decisions written down, and reorders that hold their specification.

What Bengaluru brands make under private label

Bengaluru brands often put loungewear, sleepwear, activewear-led basics and everyday apparel under private label: T-shirts, joggers, co-ords, shirts and dresses that reorder steadily. Festive kurtas join them for Dasara and Deepavali, and small limited runs for Kannada Rajyotsava.

Each style goes to a partner unit that already makes its construction, whether that is a knit jogger or a woven shirt. If none of our units suits a construction, we say so before sampling rather than after a round that proves it.

The city’s mild climate helps. Lightweight ranges sell for most of the year, with a short cool season, so a core can be reordered on a steady rhythm rather than rebuilt each season, which suits a plan built on repeat purchase.

Bengaluru has making options of its own: export units across its industrial belts, and Tiruppur’s knit trade to the south. We are most useful alongside them, for woven pieces, ethnic capsules, or a range of several categories developed in one conversation.

Modelling private label cost, line by line

Model private label cost as a stack of separate lines, because each moves for a different reason: the per-piece rate, sampling, fabric and label minimums spread over the first lot, packing, freight to Bengaluru and GST. One blended figure hides which line to work on.

GSTEach piece’s sale value; IGST across statesIts own line on the tax invoice

Illustration: when a woven label’s minimum run exceeds the first lot, lot one carries the whole run’s cost and the repeats that use the leftover labels carry none. Model the first lot and the repeats separately, or the first margin misleads the board.

For a Bengaluru brand’s first pass at the model, the rate card gives indicative per-piece rates by line; the quotation for your specification replaces it once the style is clear.

Because the lot crosses from Delhi into Karnataka, the sale is inter-state and the tax invoice generally carries IGST rather than CGST and SGST; a registered brand takes it back as input tax credit in its returns.

In the model, the GST rate on a readymade garment depends on its sale value: at the time of writing, 5% up to ₹ 2,500 a piece and 18% above, as revised from 22 Sep 2025, confirmed per style on the quotation.

Testing activewear and loungewear claims

Test any performance claim before it reaches a hangtag or a listing. Moisture-wicking, quick-dry, anti-odour, four-way stretch and UV protection are claims about the bulk fabric, and a Bengaluru brand’s reviewers will test them whether or not a laboratory did.

  • Composition. Declared by the fabric supplier and, where you publish percentages, confirmed by a laboratory test on the bulk fabric.
  • Shrinkage and colour fastness. Washed as your customer will wash it, because loungewear is washed often and returned when it shrinks.
  • Stretch and recovery. For joggers and leggings, so knees and seats do not bag after a few wears.
  • Pilling. On brushed fleece and soft blends, a frequent loungewear complaint that a rub test on the sample catches early.

Testing adds time and cost, so decide early which claims you will make: a Bengaluru brand selling on softness alone needs fewer tests than one printing quick-dry on every tag. Fabric is proven at the sampling and sourcing stage.

Briefing reorders from return reasons

Brief a Bengaluru reorder from return reasons by size, not from memory of the first lot. If returns cluster on tightness at the chest in L and XL, the fix is a grading change in those sizes, sampled and checked before the repeat is cut.

Change one thing at a time. A new fabric and a new fit in the same reorder leave your analyst unable to say which one moved the return rate, so the first lot’s counter sample stays on file until its replacement is approved.

Analysts can have the specification history too: every version of the measurement chart is dated and every approval recorded, so a change in the return rate can be traced to the version that caused it.

Festive capsules and limited Rajyotsava runs

Bengaluru’s calendar adds two kinds of private label run: festive capsules for Dasara and Deepavali, and small limited editions for Kannada Rajyotsava on 1 November, where the red and yellow of the Kannada flag can carry the design. Both have fixed dates.

A Rajyotsava edition is where minimums bite. Dyed fabric, woven labels and screen-print set-ups each carry one, so a small edition costs more a piece than the core; a printed neck label or edition hangtag can cost less than new woven labels.

Festive capsules for Dasara and Deepavali meet the marketplaces’ festive sale events in the same weeks, so approve their pre-production samples before Ganesha Chaturthi and leave room to shoot and list once the lot reaches Bengaluru.

Our page on women’s ethnic wear covers how festive kurtas and kurta sets are specified, from fabric and lining to the dupatta.

Branded packing for a D2C unboxing

Many Bengaluru D2C brands treat the unboxing as part of the product, and some of it can travel with the lot: each piece folded to your standard, in a printed polybag, with a hangtag and an insert card, ready for your own outer box.

The box your customer opens is packed by you or your logistics provider; we do not pack or ship individual orders. Our part ends when the lot, packed piece by piece to your instructions, reaches your transporter in Delhi with its tax invoice.

A Bengaluru brand should decide polybag size, print and any recycled-content claim before the proofs, and keep that claim to what its polybag supplier documents.

Using Bengaluru’s export units alongside us

Many Bengaluru brands run more than one source: an export unit nearby for one category, Tiruppur for knits, and a Delhi route for the rest. That works when each style has one written specification that every source works to.

Some of the city’s export houses now sell labels of their own in India. For them, a Delhi route can add the ethnic and festive lines their export floors do not make, without disturbing production planned around overseas buyers.

The specification, measurement chart and approvals for a style we develop are recorded for you, so if a style later moves to a unit nearer Bengaluru, its history moves with it instead of starting again from a sample.

Approving samples from Bengaluru

Approvals run from Bengaluru in writing. Samples, lab dips and label proofs travel to you with photographs and a measurement sheet; your side replies with numbered comments, and one named person signs each approval.

If your side runs fit sessions on a model in Bengaluru, send the fit comments as measurements against the chart, with the photographs marked, in one reply rather than several.

Measure the way the specification measures. A brand that checks samples on a mannequin in Indiranagar and a unit that measures flat in Delhi will disagree about the same garment, so agree the method, the points and the tolerance before the first sample travels.

Nobody needs to fly to Delhi for this, and nobody from our side comes to Bengaluru; the work runs over calls, shared sheets and samples sent on the quotation’s terms, from our only office in Gandhi Nagar.

Brand names, labels and listings

Copies follow a Bengaluru brand that gains traction, so file for the trademark before labels are woven; the label, the marketplace brand programme and the listing should all carry one name you own.

Packed garments sold online carry Legal Metrology declarations on the pack or hangtag: MRP, net quantity, the name and address of the manufacturer, packer or importer, month and year, and consumer-care details. The listing repeats every one except the month and year.

A Bengaluru brand should settle whose name appears on them, and in what capacity, before the hangtag proofs, because a reprint after bulk holds up the whole lot.

Size charts for your storefront and Myntra listings come from the approved size set, not a generic table. Our storefront work and our guide to selling clothes online in India cover the selling side.

Starting a Bengaluru brief

Start with the style that sells most and its return data, not the whole range: a reference garment, quantities by size, your label artwork, a target cost per piece and the date stock must be in Bengaluru.

We reply with questions, then a sample plan and a quotation by the piece, with sampling terms stated and freight to be confirmed. Send the brief through our contact page, or read our guide on starting a clothing brand in India first.

Storefronts, marketplaces and tracking for the city’s brands are on our page for ecommerce services in Bengaluru, and every stage of the work is laid out on our private label clothing page.

Questions

Questions Bengaluru brands ask about private label

Who can make private label clothing for my Bengaluru D2C brand?
Partner units that already make your construction, briefed and checked by us from Delhi; we do not own a factory. You approve samples from Bengaluru, and the finished lot is handed to your transporter in Delhi.
How do I calculate landed cost for private label clothing?
Add the per-piece rate, your share of sampling and of fabric and label minimums, packing, freight to your city and GST, each as its own line. Our quotations keep those lines apart, with sampling terms stated and freight to be confirmed, so each can go straight into your model.
Can private label activewear be sold as moisture-wicking?
Only if a test on the bulk fabric supports it. Moisture-wicking, quick-dry and UV protection describe how the fabric performs, so test before the words reach a hangtag or a listing.
Is IGST charged on clothing from Delhi to Karnataka?
Generally, yes: the supply crosses from Delhi into Karnataka, so the invoice shows IGST on its own line and a registered brand can take it as input tax credit. The garment rate at the time of writing is 5% up to ₹ 2,500 a piece and 18% above. Your advisor can confirm the treatment.
Why source in Delhi when Bengaluru has garment exporters?
Bengaluru’s export units and Tiruppur’s knit trade suit many styles, and many brands use more than one source. Delhi suits woven pieces, ethnic capsules and mixed ranges developed in one conversation, with sampling and sourcing in the same place.
How do I reduce returns on a private label range?
Brief each reorder from return reasons by size, change one thing at a time, and publish a size chart taken from the approved size set. Every grading change is sampled and measured against the chart before the repeat is cut.
Can you make a small limited edition for Kannada Rajyotsava?
Yes, if the run makes sense against its minimums: dyed fabric, woven labels and print set-ups each carry one. A printed neck label or an edition hangtag can keep the cost per piece down, and the quotation shows the trade-off.
Do I need to visit Delhi to approve samples?
No. Samples, lab dips and label proofs reach you in Bengaluru with photographs and a measurement sheet, and approvals are given in writing. Our only office is in Gandhi Nagar, New Delhi, and the work runs remotely.
